Stage make-upDancers should wear...
Don’t forget to darken the dancer’s eyebrows as they will also disappear under lights. False eyelashes are required for Company dancers and strongly recommended for all dancers 3rd grade and older. |
Example of make-up for recital pictured above.

Why make-up?All dancers (including the PreK-K dancers) MUST wear make-up or they will not have a face on stage! The lights wash out your facial features (eyes, nose and mouth). Without make-up (including foundation at least one shade darker than skin color), their face will appear as a white blob.
|
Underwear?Costumes are like bathing suits. Underwear is not worn with bathing suits and should not be worn with costumes. However, for young dancers who require assistance with changing, those dancers should wear underwear. Dancers can also wear a skin-colored (nude) leotard to wear over tights (under costumes) in lieu of underwear.
