LTRC Tap/Jazz Class Policies
For the dancers: during class... --No gum or candy is allowed in class.
--Additionally, if you would like to celebrate a birthday or other special day, please bring non-food items to share (stickers, pencils, etc.). For those dancers bringing a snack for breaks between classes or health needs, they may NOT share snacks with other dancers due to many food allergies. All snacks should be peanut-free. --No hoop or large earrings should be worn. Please keep all jewelry worn to a bare minimum. --Also, we ask that the younger dancers leave all toys, dolls, play jewelry, etc. OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM. Please keep in mind it is your responsibility to keep dancers and their siblings quiet while in the lobby before and after class. Please remain outside the classroom. --Unfortunately, friends may not observe any class - BCP&R requires a waiver signed by each individual in the space. If you have a conflict that this policy affects, please contact Miss Val to discuss other options. |
How to leave class--After class, ALL parents must come into the classroom to pick up your dancer.
--Parents must also enter to sign the dancer out. For their safety, dancers will not be dismissed until an adult signs them out or unless the dancer drives themselves to and from dance. Siblings cannot sign out dancers unless they have driven to the school for pick up. |
Running late? Please make every effort to pick your dancer up on time, especially since some of the instructors will be driving to another school to teach after your dancer’s class. If however, you are running late, you MUST call Miss Val at 410-733-2188 so she can get a message to your dancer’s instructor. This way we can make special arrangements to have your dancer cared for until your arrival and have staff coverage at the other school until the instructor can arrive.

Class CancellationsIt is absolutely imperative that you pay attention to the dance calendar. You can even download it to view on your iPhone, iPad, Outlook client, etc.! Directions here!
There will be several dates when we can’t use the schools. There will be some dates, because of school availability, when we have class at one school and not the others. There will be other dates when students have off school or get out early but we will still have dance. So again, please follow the CALENDAR carefully and sign up for rainedout.com messages. |
Inclement Weather PolicyIf the Baltimore County Public School (BCPS) system makes a decision to close early “in anticipation of inclement weather” and cancels “after school activities”, this does not necessarily mean that dance is cancelled. Baltimore County Dept of Recreation and Parks will make their own decision in this instance whether to cancel or not.
However, if BCPS close early or are closed “due to inclement weather”, we are closed. If you are unsure whether we have class or not, you can always check LTRC Tap & Jazz rainedout.com messages or call/text Miss Val. |
Attendance & Absence Policy
Please strive for extremely consistent attendance. We understand that dancers become ill, especially during flu season, or other obligations may stand as an obstacle here and there. If you are unable to attend class, we ask that you kindly call Miss Val as a courtesy (410) 733-2188 or email at LTRCMissVal@gmail.com and she will notify your dancer’s instructor.
Instructors reserve the right to choreograph around students who have missed class or who are consistently late. This means if your dancer is not in class when new choreography is taught, the instructor reserves the right to eliminate him/her from a “chunk” of the routine. When the dancer returns to class, the instructor will bring him/her back into the routine. This is especially the case for the intermediate / advanced level dance classes and Companies. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let Miss Val know.
Note for FLU SEASON: While we very much appreciate your efforts to bring your dancers to class each week, it’s important that dancers who are sick not attend class. We want to keep our staff and dancers as healthy as possible and to avoid the spread of germs especially the flu in our program. If your dancer is ill or stayed home from school, please have them stay home from dance. If your dancer becomes ill in class, we will call as soon as possible for pick up. We are following the guidelines set by Baltimore County Public Schools as well as most schools. Dancers should be fever free for at least 24 hours before returning to dance. As always, please continue to encourage your dancers to wash their hands frequently or to use a hand sanitizer. We will remind them when possible.

Dress Rehearsal Policy - MANDATORY

Your dancer’s Dress Rehearsal will be scheduled on Friday AND/OR Saturday of Recital Weekend. All Company classes and several other older classes may also have a Tech rehearsal on Friday AND/OR Saturday. Attending Dress and Tech Rehearsals are MANDATORY. In years past, we have had several dancers who were unable to perform in the recital because they missed dress rehearsal or tech rehearsal. We apologize, but there are absolutely NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule.
As soon as the permit is approved, we will notify you the dates of rehearsals and the recital. Once we do, please keep both Friday and Saturday available as the dress rehearsal schedules will not be posted right away. We will also ask for any major scheduling conflicts (weddings, proms, communions, bat/bar mitzah, etc) during the recital weekend once the recital dates are announced. We will do our best to work around these conflicts. Specific dress rehearsal information regarding date and times will be distributed in April.
Please keep both days open for your dancer’s rehearsal. Rehearsals on Friday will be scheduled between 4:30pm – 11:00pm. Rehearsals on Saturday will be scheduled between 9:00am and 10:30pm. Your dancer will have a rehearsal for every routine they are in- including KIDS Production (for PreK to 4th grade dancers) and Grand Finale Production (for 5th grade through Adult dancers). Dancers who have both a tech AND dress rehearsal MUST ATTEND BOTH rehearsals in order to perform in that number in the recitals.
We appreciate your flexibility.
